Sydney Film Festival
Sydney Film Festival is Australia's International film event of the year, showcasing contemporary cinema from Australia and around the world. The festival was established in 1954 and has evolved into a major cultural event on the city's social calendar.
The full program for the 2007 festival will be announced on 9 May. Some highlights from this year's program include a retrospective of the works of legendary filmmaker John Huston and new program sections focusing on Turkey, kids' films and features by or about people with disabilities, as well as strong documentary and world cinema sections.
It has been a terrific year for filmmaking and screen based work, with filmmakers across all platforms striving to capture and interpret the realities of our tumultuous world and ambitiously creating imagined worlds that illuminate the vagaries of our own.
