Scone & Upper Hunter Horse Festival

Nestled in the Upper Hunter Valley and a pleasant four hour drive from Sydney, Scone is home to more than 65 horse studs breeding millions of dollars worth of foals every year. Scone also boasts the headquarters of the Australian Stock Horse Society, a racecourse equal to any in the big cities. It is considered Horse Capital of Australia

For more than 25 years the Scone & Upper Hunter Horse Festival continues to draw ever increasing crowds. They come to enjoy over two weeks of equine country life with thoroughbred shows, horse competitions, rodeos, dog trials, thoroughbred stud tours and the hospitality of the locals as they present arts & craft shows, Balls, line dances, discos, parties, fetes and fairs.

The Festival also includes the Scone Cup horse race that has been run since 1947. The Scone Cup attracts well over 8,000 patrons to the track each year.
